Montessori Children's Academy admits students of any economic and social class, racial and ethnic heritage and religious belief.  In order to be considered for our primary classroom, a child must be eighteen months (Toddler) or three years of age (Primary)  by September 1, 2007.  Children who are between six and nine years will be considered for our Elementary I program.  Students between nine and twelve years will be considered for our Elementary II program.  The following are a list of specific steps for the admission process.

1.

Call 810-326-0354 and schedule an appointment for an informational observation and school tour.  Both parents are requested to attend.

2.

Complete application form and developmental data form and send it to the school with a non-refundable $75.00 application fee.  Applications should be received by March 15, 2007 to be considered for the first round of admission decisions.  We suggest you return your application as soon as possible since classroom spaces are limited.

3.

Upon receipt of your application, we will schedule a time for you and your child to meet with a classroom teacher.  This meeting will:  (1) help determine your child’s readiness for the school program; (2) help us to learn additional information about your family and child; (3) answer parent questions and share additional information on the Montessori approach to learning.

4.

Admission decisions are made by the administrator and the teaching staff.  These decisions are based on the child and family school visit and the number of openings available with regard to age, sex and class balance.  Siblings of current students and Montessori transfers are given priority admission.  Parents will be contacted by (date), regarding placement.  Once an opening is offered, a non-refundable tuition deposit ($100.00 Pre/K) or ($1000.00 Elementary) will be due.  Upon receipt of the tuition deposit and agreement papers, a place for your child will be guaranteed.

5.

If it is our judgment that your child would have a difficult time in a Montessori environment, we will inform you as soon as possible.

6.

If a place is not immediately available, you may wish to be placed on our wait list.  You will receive notification of waiting list status by May 15th.  We occasionally experience changes and urge parents to remain in the wait group.
